Miles, I never knew how the 25th worked until you explained it. Definitely gives one pause if he then has 21 days to wreek havoc on all who support it. What a chilling forecast. I do wonder how plausible an election is in November. The rat is getting cornered and he will be even more rabid then, nothing will be out of line. Blood shed is what he wants so very much... on our own soil.

they'll pull every trick in the book + a few that haven't yet been imagined to cancel, rig, steal, or overturn the elections. but We The People have strength in numbers plus way more smarts; if we ALL step up to do our part we might be able to keep them Free & Fair! We have to convince non-voting friends this one really matters, make sure they check registration monthly, and acquire every form of gov ID they can asap. then we ALL need to sign up to be a POLL WORKER, ELECTION JUDGE, or NPO OBSERVER. At min: plan to take the DAY OFF to ad hoc show up to PROTECT VOTERS & BALLOTS. Bring a picnic & all your friends! PEACEFUL SIT-IN @ the POLLS! #TooBigToRig #TooRealToSteal #ProtectOurElections 🌊🌊🗳️🇺🇸

Whatever it is...however it's done -- I DON'T CARE. It needs to happen.

Linda McCaughey's avatar

No. We need to do the work to make sure it happens. Waiting for some ephemeral force to fix it isn't working.

Claire from Arlington VA's avatar

You misunderstood my message. As someone who DOES the work, I agree wtih youl

Claire from Arlington VA's avatar

I was speaking to /about our electeds who need to do much more than they are doing.

Linda McCaughey's avatar

They appear all to be wimps to one degree or another. Pitiful.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

They are OWNED COWARDS. They will REMAIN that way too. Never forget their names.

I believe he will blow up the entire planet before he allows any election where he does not win to go forward, including the midterms which could result in his impeachment. Ido not think people realize the depth of the sickness of his mind. All this talk of political ways to oppose him are delusional. It is Hitler in the bunker time, with the ordering ancient cities of art , civilization and culture to be destroyed. Then raving that the citizens of his own country do not deserve to live because THEY lost the war. We have seen this before. 90 million people died because of one madman. This time there are nukes.

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

Exactly why he needs to die soon, by whatever means.

John H's avatar

All true, but you presume that there will be midterm elections. Trump is itching to invoke the War Powers Act, either due to the conflict in Iran (which he fabricated) or merely the state of immigration (which he fabricated). And the moral decay infecting the GOP in Congress will do nothing to stop it.

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

He is already trying to make excuses not to hold an election. Even his counterpart-crook in Isreal postponed his own re=election bid knowing the results would be the end for him. Trump needs to brought down and destroyed. He is an ever present danger to America and the rest of the world.

ELIZABETH Craze's avatar

He really horrified me

Not just scared but horrified me

I can not believe that his cabinet ( a joke) or the Republicans don't choose to stop him

Surely we like minded folks aren't the only ones to see the end game if he isn't tethered.

Miles, even as a "lay" person, I see things the way you describe them. BUT: my biggest concern is the election itself. There are many ways, already in play, to push against the things the gop is already doing to enable their own success. But what exists to protect the "mechanical" vote counting systems? Several unofficial election processing "watchers" feel the last presidential election was tampered with by musk & co or others. Their "receipts" and logics seem sensible. I would not be surprised if this had happened. Is there any one (even "third party") monitor already established upfront now who'd also monitor during and after that election? I remember the US used to do that for younger, fragile democracies. WHO could do it now? Someone from, or selected by the UN?

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

We better have something in place because Trump et al will cheat, steal and lie to win.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

It's what he does EVERY time. He cheated this LAST time too, yet I see people using the term that he won. He did NOT win legally. If people DON'T get out of denial, (yes, that's what it is subconsciously) We take 3 steps backwards. WHY people insist on not speaking the TRUTH about that not only angers me it sounds TO TRUMP like he succeeded with his LIE! And he's Powered by that gasoline of LIES. So saying it is SPREADING that LIE. I watched him cheat for a whole day and More! I watched the videos that showed the cheat right in front of the camera.

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

I wrote the other day I am sick of the press and all of Substack still reporting his bad behaviour and him falling asleep.

WTF more do you need to see America. He needs to be stopped, put in a home or six feet under. Its not funny, its not interesting and people still don't get it....We are living in Autocracy, but most of America does not read with any level of comprehension and they are still spending. It will all come to a screeching halt soon, and one way or the other if he prevails we have more of our rights taken and an illegal elections in November, and if he dies we will have a global celebration.

David Ritchey's avatar

I, too, had no idea Congress could reverse a 25th amendment action. So you’re right. I don’t think it’s a viable option either.

At think moment in time I’m terrified he’s going to nuke Iran. I don’t have faith that his current advisors have enough courage to talk him down now. God help us.

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

What advisors....that drunk lunatic who thinks this is a giant game he watched on a big game screen. Trump and the top members should be eliminated,....why can't the formerly greatest country in the world topple theses pigs???

ELIZABETH Craze's avatar

Hegeth is a wanna be military commander. All the real Generals have retired or been relieved if their duty. That is scary.

Stephen McAlister's avatar

Can we consider the possibility that every state has the right to do a forensic audit of all vote counting machines and make an informed decision about the safest way to control vote integrity without federal interference? Check out The Existentialist Republic, This Will Hold, Election Truth Alliance, all on Substack. Also pay attention to Jessica Denson. She, like you, remains in a legal battle with Trump for speaking the truth.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

And SHE is correct too!!!! I only WISH more people would LISTEN to her. She knows what's really happened and how he'll try again.

Bea's avatar

I am afraid that we will not last until the midterms without this guy using a nuclear bomb. What he is doing with the military is alarming enough as it is. I don’t understand how a medical doctor trained in mental health cannot order or prescribe that he be placed into an insane asylum to protect the world and even himself. It would take the onus away from the political class and I am sure would be supported by others in the same position. This man is much too dangerous to all of us and to the world to be allowed to remain in the position that he is in.

ELIZABETH Craze's avatar

He has always been an egomaniacal sob. Add that personality to someone who is now truly mentally ill and you have an unstoppable killer on your hands.

Jonann Hall's avatar

You are sooooo spot on here. All that matters now is we go all out on the midterms and this time when his term is over we waste NO time nailing him in every way we can.

Linda McCaughey's avatar

Sounds like a plan to me!! Yew must be wunna them smart wimmen!

Rhonda Cool's avatar

I agree with you that the best way to stop him is at the polls, but the DNC wirh Ken Martin is just lame. I have no idea what he is doing. Indivisible is doing more to organize an educate voters more than he. The Dems have to fight like the GOP. I am truly scared that we want have midterms. How can we survive three more years of hia lunacy?

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

The Dems don't have the Street Smarts to game Trump.....he will never except defeat and the count and ballot or whatever will be tied up in court.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

PROGRESSIVES are smarter than you may think.

Douglas Mackay's avatar

OK. It’s the midterms then. But what’s stopping him from all the retribution and violence he’ll foment between November 2026 and October 2028? Then there’s Hegseth’s lunacy and religious fervor to contend with at the same time. That leaves the only other thing: medical deterioration or death. What would be the bat signal? Congress needs to act, through speeches, legislation, and congressional hearings specifically to address his health. That will lead to public opinion picking up the fight. Conventional blabbering. Same thing, same dance, same carousel of white knuckling until…whatever.

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

The whole idea that the entire Cabinet and Congress are afraid of what this unhinged mentally ill old man will do next says if all. This even crazier and more corrupt version is reason enough for somebody to just eliminate him. You know he will find a way to hold up the ballot counting or the results if they don't go his way. I think we are playing a very dangerous game of chicken. He needs to go now.

Michael Ehrick's avatar

It is clear that the present cabinet and the Republican-controlled legislature will not invoke the 25th amendment. And it is true that the midterm elections should offer an escape hatch -- if they are free and fair, and if they occur at all. But there is a real risk that Trump will use the military (largely stripped by Hegseth of ethical commanders) to prevent or steal the elections. What strategy would let us deal with this?

George in Atlanta's avatar

Yeah, kind of knew that, thanks for spelling it out. It is, and always has been, us. "Of and by the People" means we're all there is, all our representatives work for us and help us keep our society stable and as peaceful as possible. They aren't our 'leaders'. The 25th is a mirage, a bit of political stage art meant only to remind us that presidents aren't permanent, and that we should rid ourselves of bad ones.

Anything we do now which follows the rules of political action as we've always known is, essentially, 'waiting for November'. So that's what we're doing. But, if you want more in the way of decisive action, fear not. Donny is spiraling fast and the odds of his doing something horrific and globally stupid before November are about 100%. The issue will be forced, it may happen faster than we think.

Diana's avatar

I just don't see how we win. Short of Trump leaving office due to natural causes, I would be quite fearful of the retaliation if there were an attempt to forcibly remove him. Remember, he has friends in some pretty low, evil places.

Stephen McAlister's avatar

Please check out Jessica Denson, This Will Hold, the Election Truth Alliance, Smart Elections, and others to explore a different route than the 25th Amendment. Congress should be embroiled with constant impeachment proceedings if Democrats would just take their jobs seriously

Sabrina Wood's avatar

Lumping all democrats into one statement like that isn’t true and especially when they are not the party in power. There are many democrats shouting saying what needs saying. After all, it’s mostly democrats fighting this crap, independents can’t because they don’t have a party, and the vast majority of gop are spineless. We the people have to keep telling all of our elected officials to keep fighting and then, we the people must show up in historic numbers to vote the gop out; then let the impeachments fly.

Stephen McAlister's avatar

Sorry, I ran out of letters. I SHOULD have said “Congressional” Democrats. They are the only ones who have the right to pursue impeachment. If they took turns every day to impeach Trump on any ONE crime and kept doing it over and over until they run out of crimes, imagine what would eventually happen!

ELIZABETH Craze's avatar

You are so right about lumping all members of Congress intimidation the same category. I was so guilty of that because of the Congressional control held by the Republicans. Now I am trying to come up with an appropriate label for that so I don't keep blaming " Congress"

Anyone have ideas for my delima?

Stephen McAlister's avatar

I still think anyone and everyone in Congress can invoke an impeachment regardless of political power. I wish they would keep doing it endlessly until something gets momentum.

Joan Wiersma's avatar

I agree that people need to check those activist orgs.before they vote. They should check on them immediately. Joining to get ideas is NOT a bad idea.
