Thanks Miles and you're 100% spot on. Trump, his Cabinet and others should never have been invited to the dinner in the first place in my opinion as they're all trying to get rid of the Freedom of the Press

This is not about Donnie, it's about us. We heard of another horrible, terrible, no-good 'attempt on the life of the President' and we, not giving a fat rat's ass, shrugged. We don't even seem to care if it was staged or not. That's the thing that's new, Miles. He's now forced to ratchet up his atrocities in an effort to upset us into paying attention to him. And it's not working.

Release the Epstein files.

Thank you Miles…Trump hates the press, our First Amendment rights, along with every other protection provided by our Constitution. The Saturday night “attempt” will only energise the attacks on the rights we have held dear for almost 250 years! Every day the danger to our country seems to increase even more!

WE can never tell if we are getting a truthful statement from this regime. And I"m not really certain this was a genuine attempt at assassination. I don't lean toward conspiracy theories, but this is rather smelly.

I can understand the president's pique about Nora's reading of the WHCD shooter's 'manifesto'. It is heartening to see that he considers accusations of pedophilia derogatory. Now if he would release the Epstein files we could put this business to rest.

My husband frequently says, "This too shall pass." I guess it will, eventually; but enduring the active thrashing of our democracy is unbelievably painful!

Donald Trump is mentally and morally incapable of uniting the country. He trives on chaos and disorder. He uses the chaos to justify his attempts to subvert of suspend, in whole or in part, the Constitution. He gaslight continuously to confuse people about what is going on. Our best bet is to assume he is lying until proven differently.

Normally, (though what is normal any longer is up for debate) I would be glued to the TV to get the latest news about such an event taking place but that keen interest was decidedly lacking for some reason. I tuned in a while after the event & decided to watch trump's address to the nation. When he got to the advertisement for his goddam ballroom I switched back to the B movie I was watching on Netflix.

I do not condone violence political or otherwise but I find it rich that trump is now condemning the violence that he himself generates in his not so subtle messaging about fighting like hell to keep our country, or telling his crowd that he would pay for attorneys if his supporters roughed up protestors at his rallies. (As an aside~~~sure he'd pay for attorneys for someone else! He doesn't pay his own damn attorneys why would anyone believe he'd hire any for them. But I digress.)

The only First Amendment he supports is his right to slander, berate, threaten & ruin people he doesn't like otherwise it's treason or terrorism.

It really does say something about how trump has undermined trust throughout society so much so that when things like this occur a group of individuals immediately jumps to the thought that he orchestrated the attack. I have to admit, I have all that I can do to stop considering that myself. The fact that he has destroyed trust in such a massive scale may actually be the worst thing he has done. Don't get me wrong that position is tied by corruption & incompetence but we can rid ourselves of the last two crimes much easier than getting our trust back. And that is definitely reflected by our one time allies that now are certain that the US is not a trustworthy partner in anything!

Sad state of affairs!

The freaks surrounding the dementing wannabe dictator-king think they have their Reichstag fire moment.

Up to you, my US friends, to not let the voughts and the millers rape what is left of your government, your law system.

Oh, Miles. I read the first line, "A deranged man attacked the WHCD..." and thought you meant 47. All on board with the regime sidelining the First Amendment. After the firing of the twenty-two members of the National Science Board on Friday, I see a purge of the educated people in this country. But the People are not stupid. Time to make none of these sycophants comfy.

Count me among those who believe the entire thing was staged. It’s a distraction from things like the plundering of our country and the impending pardon pf Ghislaine Maxwell. If we move past the noise we’ll notice things like the sale of our natural resources to foreign countries.

Pretty funny that all he’s getting is the big yawn though. I’m sure his fragile ego is reeling!

Trump has produced the distrust of him by the electorate that he deserves. All narcissists, especially malignant narcissists, will fight any inconvenient fact or truth that contradicts their agenda or deluded self-image. By nature, they are unreasonable. We will simply keep doing what we have been doing as peaceful dissenters with all the avenues available to us. We grow the movement through persistence and sanity.

Reason #1 for canceling the WHCA dinner, proposed for next month: to deny Trump the stated aim to “fire shots.”

Reason #2: Camaraderie and networking cannot be forced, particularly in the aftermath of Saturday night’s events. Don’t these people have cellphones and laptops?

Reason #3: Why would you invite another incident, another look at the situation, to happen, stirring the embers of criticism?

WHCA leaders should resign en masse and the organization should take a year off from planning anything so public.

Apparently it’s fine if the First Amendment only applies to “him”. The rest of us are supposed to just shut up (Sarcasm).

This is just another indication of not only his racist hate, but his rapid spiral into dementia.

“Trump Reposts Tirade Against Chinese and Indian Immigrants”

The president touched off a furor with his post sharing a podcast episode in which the host referred to China and India as “hellhole” places.”

I continue to hear the prophetic last line of “Lions for Lambs”: “Do you know what you’re getting? Hey! Do you know what you’ve getting?”

The worst part of all of it is, like the Charlie Kirk shooting, the talking points were already known before the speakers even delivered their speeches. They (shooters) had to have had early access. Maybe not. It is all so insidious once the shots ring out…
