I don't know that the NATO Alliance will ever be what it was. Trust, once broken, is often not ever regained.
Expressing my ire at the idiots in Congress who are supporting taking over Greenland seems futile and I've already called my representative's office. But, in the spirit of not giving up, I"ll try again.
Of course any right thinking American is aghast at trump's threats against allies. He is madman created by the American voter. He should NEVER have been allowed to run for office after Jan 6. This is on the Robert's Court...and everything that followed.
Excellent! “He is madman created by the American voter. He should NEVER have been allowed to run for office after Jan 6. This is on the Robert's Court...and everything that followed.” 💙🌻✌🏽
What Trump doesn’t destroy he desecrates. I had a crazy idea that a US invasion would have Europe weakened on its eastern front where critical supplies flows into Ukraine. That would empower Putin and seen as the sign of weakness he’s been anticipating, a present from Trump.
Donffrey Trumpstein is doing his best to follow the marching orders and destroy NATO that he was given in those "private personal meetings" with "Vlad the Bad" Putin. Ready to be another USSR country like Moldova as Putin works to get the old band back together, MAGA? You're sure loaning all your support to the man who is working to make that happen.
Can you imagine the howls of laughter ricocheting through the Kremlin today, as Putin prepares to launch yet more nuclear-capable missiles to destroy yet another set of heating and power stations to plunge another 100,000 Ukrainians into cold and darkness tonight?
For a lighthearted escape, Sally and I watched the 1960 Peter Sellers movie "The Mouse that Roared." The fictional victory of the Grand Duchy of Fenwick over the mighty United States was a fun fantasy, but should also serve as a reminder that in "the fog of war" unpredictable and uncontrollable consequences can humble the mighty, especially when they are led by the ignorant and arrogant.
To point out the pretty obvious, but not to nearly enough, just since returning to what is now the White Supremacist House, Benedict Donald has eagerly demoted himself from Putin s Puppet to Putin’s Covfefe-Boy.
Putin must be constantly laughing at all the time that Jarjar Kushner and his own designated representative Steve Witless have been wasting in conspiring with Putin’s own team on how to divvy up Ukraine between Chump and Putin. Should , God and the will of the Ukrainian people forbid, Putin succeed in physically conquering Ukraine, how long would it be before Putin would tell Chump to pound sand as to any “agreement”?
Rutte is unfortunately the wrong guy in the wrong position for this moment in time.
And I can confirm that all of Europe would be very wise never ever to trust trump's US ever again. Even if the fellow is gone it will take decades, generations before trust can be somewhat restored.
Exactly, Miles analogy of a trouble marriage - BRILLIANT!
“There is a useful domestic analogy here.
A marriage does not automatically end the moment one partner commits infidelity. The legal bond remains. The partners still share a house or apartment and their daily routines may even continue for a while. But everything about how that relationship once worked is altered. Trust is gone. Assumptions are gone. Every action is reinterpreted through suspicion rather than confidence. The relationship may survive, but only if something profound changes. And it almost never fixes itself.
Excellent article Miles: Bravo! Trump’s attempts to invade and take Greenland by force only plays into Putin’s hands; which I believe is the point!
This is a red herring. Now Europe has to defend Greenland from a potential threat from one of its best allies of almost 75 years, while the barbarians are at the gates in Europe! All while we move our most advanced Carrier Group away from the Mediterranean on a Vision Quest by Dear Leader! Who benefits?
All Trump is doin is allowing Putin more time to continue his wrath on Ukraine, while Trump continually plays both sides of the fence (for effect); ultimately wanting Putin to succeed.
Anyone who believes that Trump and the American oligarchs are in Europe’s and Ukraine’s corner, needs to find a good therapist! IMHO…:)
NATO, signed originally by 12 nations, included the United States when the US Senate ratified the North Atlantic Treaty in 1949. In other words, Congress actively fulfilled its responsibility. Those today who point to the spineless Republicans in Congress who refused to stand up to Trump or are too frightened to do so are right on point.
Witness the reversal of two Republican senators — Hawley and Young — who reversed course after agreeing to the resolution to stop Trump’s Venezuela folly. Just enough to allow VP Vance to break the tie that killed the resolution.
Putin has been trying to weaken NATO for decades. Until Trump came along he has been unsuccessful. Trump’s Greenland escapades are accomplishing for Putin what Putin couldn’t do on his own. I am amazed at Putin’s skill in installing spies and unwitting fools in our Government. NATO was the most effective and cheap peace and prosperity insurance the United States could have purchased after WWII. I wonder why Senator Thune and Speaker Johnson are allowing him to do this? Are they that ignorant of world history?

I have thought ever since before Helsinki that he was doing Putins bidding. Hillary was right!

Thank you for this Defiance. I would say it’s even past an opening sign
We have an inept president who is dumb enough to do Putin’s bidding.
I think it's at least a large amount of cash, lust for power, and blackmail.

Putin will be buying decades of asymmetrical warfare.

"Who is your daddy now!"

So it is with NATO.

✌🏽ABSOLUTELY
Well said.
Nato can and has existed without the U.S. of 'merica. Saying rumpster will END Nato is music fascist ears.

Coward Hawley is my so-called representative. He's a weathervane and a total tool.
