The White House used thuggery to seize another news network that the president doesn't like, yet its on-air talent is largely silent. They shouldn't be. History is tuning in.
Will they have a voice I think NOT! CNN will become FOX NEWS 3 (CBS is already FOX NEWS 2) I feel very bad about this but if you want to keep your job and work for CNN I would prepare to walk out and find another platform. Because going against anything will most likely get you fired anyway! I would like to say fight on the way down, or once again find another way to get the stifling of "free speech" out there are many ways to do it and I'm sure there are many who will help them along because there are a ton of them that don't like their rights being trampled.
Gail, I think you have it right. Some of the best newscasters are joining alternative media, such as MS now and creating their own Substack. MAGA may be attempting to control all of the media that can be purchased, but we have many alternatives to not only get the news but to join in conversation with each other as we are doing here on this Substack. It is actually a great improvement over network news, and I am enjoying it immensely.

Reid Hastings made the right call. The only way to secure the deal was to acquiesce to rule by Trump. Susan Rice was just the first of what would have been a relentless stream of improper demands. Ellison is only interested in having Trump toe the line on unfettered AI and data centers. I worry that HBO which has produced so many iconic series and films will soon be a shadow of its former self. I hope that I’m wrong on all counts.

I was watching a French news clip where they were telling people that to travel to the US, you have to tell them what social media you have had for the last 5 years as well as what your past phone numbers are and previous addresses. They said this is against their laws — how can the US demand it? They had a clip of T saying we “just want to keep out bad people.”
My bet is on Anderson Cooper. He doesn't need the money and he seems to have integrity. We'll see.

Another depressing news day. Seems to me both Cooper and Tapper will be the people who speak up, but will they? I won't hold my breath.
Let's hope more of them decide to take the independent media path. We could use more strong voices unafraid to speak out.
