Taking the Offensive
For months, we’ve watched the Trump-aligned movement bend, blur, and bulldoze the rule of law—daring institutions to stop them. Too often, the response has been defensive, cautious, and slow. But this week, something important is shifting: democracy’s defenders are no longer just bracing for impact. They’re going on offense.
This week’s DEFIANCE.org Weekly Spotlight is focused on exactly that—using the law as a weapon of accountability. We’ll be spotlighting the work of Democracy Defenders Fund, a legal powerhouse backing prosecutors, judges, election officials, and whistleblowers who are actively standing up to authoritarian abuse. These are the people taking real risks, in real courtrooms, with real consequences—and they need backup.
We’ll walk through what legal offense actually looks like in practice, how it’s already changing the battlefield, and what your role can be in scaling this fight. Like every week, there will be a surprise announcement—and a direct action for you, should you choose to accept it.
LAST WEEK’S SPOTLIGHT: In Case You Missed It
Last Wednesday, we hosted our very first monthly meeting - and it was incredible!
We met an immigrant leader on the frontlines of the fight in Portland, reviewed what we’ve accomplished in just our first month since launch ($100K moved to 5 incredible organizations!), then huddled in small breakout groups to share what Missions we should take on next, and kick around ideas new ideas to improve the club.
