It's Come To This's avatar

It's been said a bazillion times before, but bears repeating, because so many millions apparently just didn't get the memo. The Holocaust didn't start with barbed wire, concentration camps, the forced dislocation of millions, the annihilation of cities, cattle cars carrying children to be murdered, war crimes, genocide...That's how it ended.

It began when a small clique of crazies led by a clown promised the German (and Italian) people that they could have everything they wanted -- and more importantly -- *everything* they wanted, no matter how cruel, how nuts, how impossible -- made perfect sense.

Too many millions in Germany were searching for someone to lie to them, to tell them 2+2 really equaled 5. Today, millions of stupefied MAGAzoids are going to have to admit that the math never made sense, and disenthrall themselves from the demented miasma of cruelty, idiocy and fantasy that Trump and his henchmen insist is real. It is NOT. It never was. It never will be.

and the germans said 'we didn't know what hitler was doing' when they surrendered in shame.

likewise trumpaholics in congress and in the voting public will say the same thing when the usa finally starts counting the dead, the maimed, the battered.....

the opposition in congress is pathetic.

there is no unified, simple, and clear message

they play into dictator trumps hands

so it's up to us to make sure that trumpaholics cannot hide behind 'ignorance'...

wear protest clothing, put up yard signs, add a protest pin/button to your winter jackets.... get the word out anyway you can. do not be afraid. silence = complicit.

bulgaria has had yuuuuge public demonstrations that caused the corrupt government to resign. bulgarians didn't care about the cold. they didn't put 'christmas shopping' before the democracy of their country.

why aren't our members of congress organizing protest rallies in towns and cities across our great country? i think we know the answer to that question - they are more concerned about accumulation of wealth on the congressional gravytrain than they are about us and our democracy....the claims to the contrary are hollow because their lack of street action is louder than their BS words...

It's what happens when there's a Secret Plot that's been going on for 50+ years, and then we find out all of a sudden that SCOTUS is Treasonous and goes right along with the Heritage Foundation's plans for this country! It's a shock and it's appalling and horrendous!! Smh... it's more about EVIL than it is money, judging by the CRUELTY that's been happening here. It's HORRIFYING! This HAS TO BE STOPPED somehow.

I also think that 'some' people are so internalized with fear, that they don't want to believe that this could happen again. A form of denial caused by the subconscious fear.

Seems odd - to say the least- to tap the “heart” icon for this report. We’ve seen this coming for months. I think the big question in many people’s heads is “What can I - me myself alone-DO about it?”

I sure as hell don’t want to live in this place of fascism, censorship and danger for dissenters- but when the echo chamber is so widespread, the acquiescence seemingly pervasive, what are my options? I’m not present when the goons push the journalists out of the building etc. And they’re COUNTING on this reaction x millions.

we need to take a stand and continue to disseminate the information we get to anyone and everyone.....as the resistance to the nazi's were doing....

preaching to the choir is not an option.

as i said in my post we have to move away from intellectual terminology that only us woke liberals understand, and use terminology that everyone can understand..... dictator replaces the word authoritarian, dictator replaces the word president, freedom of speech is being KILLED, healthcare is being DELETED.... we are our own worst enemies, we couch things in terms that we can understand and we want to back up all our statements with research, because we are ethical intelligent people.....AND WE ARE A MINORITY IN THIS COUNTRY.

if we can all start using the terminology that the 'rest of the country' can relate to, it will help set the narrative.

i know i keep saying this, but i really mean it, wear shirts, caps, buttons/pins, to state your opposition to dictator trump.

we have to stand up and stand out ..... to be silent is to be complicit.

the more of us who do, the more people will be motivated to do likewise....

check out etsy, allriotlibtees (allriot.com), cafe press etc.

this is a real war.

a war of speech.

a war of our rights.

a war of all minorities.

a war started by white supremist dictator trump.

it's up to us to hear the words of the great human rights activists bob marley and peter tosh who sang

GET UP. STAND UP. STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHT. GET UP. STAND UP. DON'T GIVE UP THE FIGHT...

i hope more people start coalescing around organizations like https://represent.us/ that you recommended Miles.....anything they can do to kick those fat asses off the congressional gravy train will be a positive.....

Great question! I have my own idealistic ideas of what we can do (keep making noise and not complying) and how the courts will hold and protect the law, but interested to hear what others think…

I’ve just watched two videos, one about Barbara Starr, and the other about George Retes on “Home of the Brave”. Both are seriously disturbing in different ways. Barbara had her entire public and personal life investigated by the regime without her knowledge. George is a U S citizen and a veteran. He was arrested by ICE, having been tear gassed in the face. He was not provided with a shower to wash it off, and he spent hours stinging and burning. After three days they gave him back his clothing and belongings and told he was free to go.

Neither of these people were given any explanation for the reasons these things happened to them. Both showed great courage in speaking out about their experiences. If this happened to them, it could happen to any of us.

According to their own numbers, since Trump 2.0 ICE began its raids, over 20 people have died in detention centers. This is an abnormally high number. (Add this up with the Carribean murders and...God what else wedo not know about people made to disappear with no due process). In addition, most of the so-called ICE undocumented detainees were only found to be guilty of traffic violations. So much for the Trump claim of only going after the worst of the worst.

It goes without saying to the wise, all reporting on this regime requires fact-checking. Even though they are pathological liars, numbers refuting their claims always seep out.

Small steps lead to authoritarian takeovers, and this action by Trump is emblematic of such. In Germany, people didn't see the writing on the wall but we have the obvious records but hindsight is of value. We MUST push people to wake to the potentials.

This step is indicative of what will come next and we've already seen, through NSPM 7, what those steps will be; that list of those people will, no doubt, be released.

The First Amendment, IMO the most important of the Constitution's amendments, is being eroded before our eyes.

I've posted this before, but it seems relevant in the discussion of targeting journalists. The DOJ is proposing a cash reward process to reward people who snitch on anyone they think is doing or saying anything against the administration. The FBI is being tasked to find these people too. My husband said, "We've been here before." Where? Oh, in Germany! I hope this gets flagged by courts, Congress, anyone. It's beyond frightening!

i'm experiencing Trump as a Serial Mass Domestic Violence (DV) Perpetrator; isolate and control - he's isolated us from our allies, he uses violence against us via his ICE thugs [i can understand that people need jobs but these exist without causing harm - fine, call me privileged - i was a working-middle-class-graduate-degreed-working-stiff for three decades). in my innocence, i ask: why can't his DV abuse be grounds for impeachment? but then again that would be admitting that i'm his his victim and i refuse this position. onward on the legal offensive!

I appreciate your coverage of this list which I had not heard about previously. These type of authoritarian actions by the Trump regime will likely continue for the foreseeable future.

However, focusing on the positive for the country, I think they've already lost the vast majority of the American people and actions like this only worsen the situation for them. Doubling down on failed strategies is not a good recipe for success. (It's really important to remember that we don't need 100% of the voters to turn against Trump/MAGA - 65%+/- is a pretty amazing number already.)

I really feel that the people have led the turnaround in this country against Trump and should be given credit for turning the tide more than anyone else. The battle is not over, but I think the last few months will go down in US history as a second Boston Tea Party moment. Momentum had been building at the grass roots voter level that culminated in No Kings 2, dramatic election gains in November (and other dates) and the release of the Epstein Files. There were plenty of others who were in the fight (such as Miles), but kudos to the majority of American voters who put a dent in what had been the Trump regime's first six months juggernaut. Let's keep the momentum going.

So I hope I'm not being overly optimistic or naieve, but more of these failed strategies is actually long term helpful for ridding us of Trump/MAGA.

Great piece but you are much too kind. Let's call it out. Several at CBS have resigned. Larry Ellison teaming up with foreign entities to buy Warner Bros and be a part of the CBS family is very wrong. The lies from Fox and Sinclair networks continue. I also get a kick out of any of these networks awarding Edward Murrow status - what a joke - Murrow fought the McCarthy lies - these folk are nothing compared to him.
