“Like many of you, I’m not the “protesting type.” But you know what? Neither were our founders… until they were.”

I’m not the protesting type either, but nationwide strikes can make the difference. We are already seeing the air traffic controllers calling in sick, which will have a significant impact on the economy should the “sick-outs” continue.

Shut down the economy and the fascists will have just a pile of ashes to rule over. This should be our next option since all else is failing. IMHO!…:)

National strike: Do not go to work, do not spend a penny, as wall street profit and stock prices plummet so will Trump and his support base. (They are whores for money/power and you saw them reverse course mid April when the market crashed.)

During strike citizens must march in peaceful protest 24/7 around congresspeoples neighborhoods/homes and DC buildings until Trump and Trash are gone.

Millions need to get off their ass and keyboards! Waiting will only make change that much more painful. Forget trying to intellectualize some type of moral change in congress to impeach trump.

I have been protesting at every opportunity since March. Every last protest has been peaceful, filled with optimism and positive energy. It feels as if the tide turned in the past few days. A bimonthly protest at a major intersection in my city (southern WI) turned ugly when a man jumped out of his truck (of course, it had to be a big ass truck) and threatened to go get a gun and kill everyone. The cops were called, but their response was to blame the protesters for not calling “soon enough” (they called right away). In Chicago, peaceful protesters are being sprayed with chemicals and shot with rubber bullets. It seems clear that the goal is to piss off protesters enough that they become aggressive, then use this to justify martial law. I can’t help but wonder what would happen if everyone just went home for a short period of time and remained silent. Who would they attack? How would they justify martial law? Perhaps that is too simplistic, since I know they could manufacture a reason.

Two things we can do. First, get America tuned into how dire things are from overshoot, so everyone turns to what we can do to save our civilization from what nature is doing to us..

Then, how astonishing no one with the power to collect us has put up that flagpole -- not Democrats, and bigger. How about you? A Coalition for the Good, by whatever it is named. Get many millions so we have a force for boycotts, marches, whatever else to take collective action on..

If you don’t know what's happening you won’t respond to what's happening

A way to wise humanity up to how endangered we are

Impassioned reading, Miles. Thank you for the point on the perspective. THIS IS the time, like none other. I couldn't agree more. In fact, I'm quite sure 10/18 is the day that the test comes. We need to be out in force, steadfast, peaceful, patriotic and committed.

Thanks for the explanation and urgency this moment requires. Spot-on.

P.S. typo in this sentence, I think... "An essay critical of the ruling class could get him called."
