Each day, across my socials, I work to counter some of the lies and hate I see. Normally I would say "Sadly, many won't see the truth." Now, I find myself saying "Disgustingly, so many are blind to the truth," and often in much stronger terms.

The bomber video is repulsive. There are no other words for it.

In the president's oath of office, it is sworn/affirmed that the person taking the office will "to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Clearly, Trump's affirmation meant nothing - we have seen that evolving over the past nine months.

It has gone beyond that, though. The president is supposed to serve all the people of this nation, no matter their political persuasion, no matter their race, religion, gender choice. Yet, he "hates" Democrats, and his hatred of people who are not white and Christian is clear.

His work to dismantle the First Amendment is beyond obvious. Some friends didn't march on Saturday because they are afraid of backlash at their place of business, hence giving up their right to the First Amendment due to fear - just what Trump wants.

If there is one thing that the No Kings rallies made clear, somewhere between 5.5 million and 8 million American patriots have had more than enough. My hope is this will continue to grow, and to be reflected at the ballot box. No matter how much gerrymandering is done, we must hope that millions of Republicans come to their senses and that Independents will lean Democrat.

I'll turn this into a Substack post later today. I don't post more than notes a lot because I don't feel there is much to add to the conversations beyond commenting but I hope it will get opened and read.

I thank you, Miles, for this post, and the push.

I am a proud patriot and stand for the country

Strange..... I don't get it.

I'm a white European and English speaker. I cannot think of one reason why I would want to migrate to trump's wet fever dream hellhole of a country.

And, I do not know one fascist who is targeted for "peaceful" expressions of views online such as opposition to mass migration..... or as we "Soros sponsored leftie antifa's" call it .... white-fascist-racist BS. And now that I think about it, I don't know a fascist who expresses his racist views "peacefully".

And the Republicans in Congress sit idly by, watching and enabling trump lay waste to our American ideals. Talk about no decency...!

What is even more vile and very telling is the lack of leadership condemning this.

Wake up America. The problem is way more than just trump.

Quit wasting time- National strike now until Trump and Trash gone. Everything else has proven to be not very effective, wasting time allowing the dictatorship time to gel.

Thank you for writing this Miles. Yes, it sure was Vile and Disgusting. It didn't surprise me at all though. Not one bit. I KNOW that he hates this country right along with 90% of it's people because we know what he's done for decades. Especially the people from NY. The other 10% are people who can supply him with millions or even billions to help him along with his Lying Grifts. The immaturity of these people is what astounds me! Vance posted AI ridiculous memes himself too.

The Trump White House portrays itself as a militarist stronghold.

I wish someone could actually squeeze Trump into a cockpit like this and send him up.

Hasn't anyone noticed the thing hanging on his chin? The Young Republicans who did this moronic video think an oxygen mask at high altitude is the equivalent of a covid mask worn by an oppositional teenager.

He'd soon be dead. Asphyxiated.

Of course, no one could ever squeeze him into a cockpit. And get him out again.

Pathetic, just pathetic. Let's save our outrage for something worthwhile. This only merits mockery.

Every day there is another (or two or three) blow to democracy. I find myself having to fight becoming numb. I wish I still had my necklace that many of us wore during the Vietnam War it said, “War is not healthy for children and other living things and had a bid sunflower. I would change War to MAGA. It would keep me centered.

(The picture and phrase was created by artist Lorraine Schneider for the organization Another Mother For Peace. I’ll have to check online and see if it is still sold.)

I'll repeat it here - don't fall for Trump's "shit on the city" or any other crazy AI video posts. Our outrage is oxygen for him and MAGA. The voters we need are somewhere in the middle - many open to humor even from Trump. The best comeback - humor or satire in equal or better doses. "Wow, I knew he was full of shit but this time it missed his diaper". Outrage/anger will never beat this guy - this is what they are after. One thing we know - they are incapable of laughing at themselves. This is our advantage. Let's use it.

I think it was a great allegory to exactly how Trump is towards us. He’s dumping shit all over us while he steals us blind. All his crypto shenanigans his watches he is making so much money handover fist and no telling how much he is ripping off from the general coffers?! and then shitting all over us. Pardon my French. He is such a sick Bag of shit himself.

On a more positive note, though, the people Trump wants to keep around, the ones who thinks like he does, are as vile and evil as he is. They don’t respect each other or him. The knives are going to be out, the farther off the rails he goes. They want what he’s got, money and power. Those around him are already posturing and posing and planning. I predict a dirty, nasty, bloody end to them all.

“The tragedy of this moment is that millions of Americans still don’t see the pattern.”

I think the problem is even more complex and deeper. Millions of Americans agree with this pattern. So even when Trump is gone, the problem of favoring selectively denying constitutional rights will persist.

The sad thing is that these AI deep fakes are going to be a significant factor in the outcome of the midterm elections.

And now with Trump and his buddies in control of all social media platforms; including TikTok (gets over 130 unique visitors a day), it’s only a matter of time before all of these platforms are weaponized to reelect MAGA republicans.

Miles, do we have e any countermeasures in place, because there aren’t any guardrails against misinformation and disinformation campaigns anymore?

Not to mention, Trump fired all of our best cyber security professionals who could uncover foreign threats and even to police the social media companies themselves. Just saying!…:)

Mlles (Mr. Brighside),

The most frustrating part of this whole monstrosity, for me, is how Democrats continue to play dead and do almost nothing to try to stop Trump and the fascist miscreants in his regime.

As they desecrate the United States Constitution on a daily basis and prepare to order the filthy, scurvy, fat slob, high school dropouts in the ICE Gestapo to slaughter peaceful protesters.

The only demand Democrats seem to be making, in order for Johnson to secure their votes to re-open the federal government, is for ACA subsidies to be funded. How pathetic!

It’s as if Dems are looking at the current federal government shutdown standoff with Republicans like the circa 1995 one, when Newt Gingrich and Bill Clinton sparred over Medicare funding.

As opposed to a standoff about the survival of American democracy that includes affordable health care for all Americans. If Republicans weren’t so stupid and self-destructive, Dems would have already been out maneuvered by the regime and its collaborators in Congress.

And tens of millions of Americans, unfortunately, as you so aptly pointed out here, Miles, are still asleep at the switch. Go figure. We’re so f____!
