I am angry and embarrassed by Congress's cowardice. The mask issue is, as you say, is just a metaphor for the lawlessness, cruelty, and out-of-control secret police unleashed on the American people by the thugs in the White House.

These are the same creeps that wouldn’t dare wear a mask during the pandemic. They are the lowest of the low in every sense of the word. I hope the states legislation is well written enough as to withstand the court challenges that most certainly will follow.

If they're so proud of what they're doing take off the masks. The reason those masks are on is that some of them are actually not ICE and for others it's because they know their families and friends would be ashamed of what they're doing. These people will never be respected and will find it hard to get work anywhere once the Democrats get back in power and for the Democrats who voted to give them more funding SHAME ON YOU!

Thank you! You have done an excellent job outlining the activities of the cowardly felons who comprise the ICE squads. The recruitment tactics of DHS are clearly designed to attract angry men with nothing going for them who welcome the chance to feel powerful at the expense of those who are being brutalized. I reject their mask argument. If they were not breaking the law on a daily basis, they would have nothing to worry about. You are correct: this is bullshit!

We have been working for 9 months to get a resolution to unmask ICE in the Charlottesville community. The local council and board says they cannot enforce it. Which I do not understand. If someone showed up in my neighborhood in a mask and started assaulting and hauling people away, they could be arrested. Why not ICE? Someone please explain.

ICE is tRump's private Gestapo. Everything they are doing is on order directly from the WH, i.e., tRump & Miller.

Bruce Springsteen said it best at a recent concert: "Our elected representatives have failed to protect the American People". And it will be remembered when elections roll around.

The Dems failed miserably. Funding ICE and the continued genocide of GAZA is unforgivable. You expect it from MAGA… not Dems. Jeffries, Schumer and the Schumercrats must step down. If not, it leaves little choice but to choose the Independent party.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

Pelosi voted for funding ICE too. She has always been a Republican Lite.

Please push for ICE abolishment or come to Minnesota and I'll drive you around to see what terrorism in America looks like. It's a fucking hellscape.

Question? What happens when a "good guy with a gun" shoots a masked, unidentified person saying they are federal agents as they come at that person. Sounds like self-defense to me?

And another thing, even the Nazis didn't wear masks, why do they? If they're so proud of what they are doing they should proudly show their faces & name tags.

Another question/comment: so they wear masks because they are afraid for themselves & their families being in danger from violence aimed at them. Well, folks, how does it feel? People against MAGA are threatened ALL THE TIME!

All that I can say is:

TAG YOU'RE IT! I mean turnabout is fair play isn't it!

No arguments with your arguments, and no errors detected.

Let's break it down, shall we?

1. A local authority rules that ICE lose the masks.

2. Bovino-clone bellows 'fuck you'.

3. State troopers or sheriff deputies are dispatched to enforce the law.

4. Hilarity ensues.

I'm not saying don't do this. Definitely do it. But it's not the only path to step 4. ICE is losing credibility and ground by the minute. There *is* going to be a confrontation between local or state law enforcement and thugs with weapons of war. Where it goes then is anybody's guess, but nothing is traveling in straight lines.

Agreed. It's inevitable. The Black Panthers are recruiting & training. Apparently they are strong in Philly, so if you thought the Eagles fans are rowdy....

George in Atlanta's avatar

Well, there you go. I would count the Panthers as a local militia. I'm uncertain what their current goal set is, I've seen them, in the past, scream "kill all whiteys". So I may be ambivalent about their activities.

Adding militias to my order of operations adds even more hilarity to the bottom line.

Here's what tickles me pink: the closer we get to it, the quieter the voices on the extreme right get in their declarations of "Civil War". They may see, as I now do, that the most likely source of their dreaded gun-seizing would be the very fascist state they've been cheering on. It's getting really messy on our side of the barricades, hard to keep tabs on who's who without a score card. Enemies and allies may become changeable and self-selecting.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

I trust the Black Panthers. Back in the 60's when I was participating in civil rights marches, they protected us (no matter what colour we were) from the nastyass, abusive and corrupt LAPD!

George in Atlanta's avatar

I trust nobody. I've never been anybody's enemy, but I remember having my shoes spat on by a FOI for the crime of standing while white. I was fortunate that they are not generally given to unilateral violence.

For those of the social justice persuasion: I hereby stipulate anything you want to claim. My little hurt fee-fees are not even worth mentioning compared to three centuries of murder and oppression by whites. If you don't care at all about gathering allies, even just in the short run, then be my guest.

It's very possible some of those 2nd Amendment folks will get a clue, too. A lot of them are far better armed and trained than these ICE bozos.

Star Aasved's avatar

We are increasingly becoming a lawless nation. Republican whiners who complain that we should not refer to ICE as the Gestapo should open their eyes to reality, rather than blindly giving a “heil” to Trump. As I’ve said, repeatedly, it’s obvious our elected representatives no longer serve the people; they serve the United States of Trump.

Billie Derham's avatar

Seven Democrats voted for this.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

In the House! Now I'm waiting to see which Dems in the Senate fall for that shit and back up tRump's Gestapo.

Billie Derham's avatar

Yes, me, too. We are in terrible trouble, in crisis. I called my Maggot reps twice today, and will call again tomorrow.

Message to noem and bovino's "braves".

Himmlers gestapo did their ugly business without masks......

MollyWhitebear's avatar

And now this morning in Minneapolis a gang of masked ICE Gestapo thugs sprayed a legal observer in the face with chemicals, took him to the ground and then proceeded to murder him in cold blood shooting him point blank at close range 10 times as six fat Gestapo thugs held him down! He was legally armed, but never even attempted to go for his holstered gun. It was pulled out of its holster by a masked ICE Gestapo and taken away. THEN they fired their shots at him point blank ten times murdering the 37 year old VA hospital nurse.

Nancy Ray's avatar

Even if local and state officials pass laws banning ICE from wearing masks, the laws won't be followed. Who's going to enforce them? Local police? They'll be outnumbered immediately by ICE thugs. Our only hope is to activate the military, somehow, to protect citizens not ICE agents.

Good point but fodder for the trump trash machine.
