Every state and district on this list as well as every swing state needs to withhold payments of any kind to the Feds. Use that money to create support systems for your own people. Fuck the feds and fuck red states.

ajay ess's avatar

that will need active interventions by the states - fed taxes are auto delivered to the feds through the tax payment system..... getting the administrations in the states to do this will take a lot of determined and strong democrats in state legislatures and governor's houses....are there really any strong democrats around? my belief is the politicians are weak, and cowardly, and not willing or smart enough to plan such an action....they're just all 'grave concerns' and 'thoughts and prayers' kind of people....

That is EXACTLY what should happen! Succession!

Klm808150's avatar

I don’t think you’re advocating for succession. I think what you’re advocating for is “leverage’ against the White House. I think if states did that Trump would be able to make the argument that he called out the military against those states for trying to break the United States. I’m not saying he would be right, but this man says whatever vomits from his mouth and it’s usually deviant and not well thought out.

Wow! Let’s cut federal funding off to all the red states that are sponging off of the blue states!! ‼️ time to fight fire with fire 🔥

Jen Baron's avatar

New York is working on it. Hopefully the the other 18 states sending more than they receive will do the same. FAFO

Thanks for the info. Good news! 👍

They’re welfare states. We’re subsidizing their low tax status. I’m sick of it. This is turning into an economic civil war. I for one am game.

Allen B from MD's avatar

Agreed, Sunny. The "blue states" are net producers. The "red states" are net takers. It would be interesting to see what would happen to the "red states" when the "blue teat" is withheld.

Guess trump doesn’t understand most, maybe all, blue states are net negative when it comes to the fed taxes we contribute to the red states, at our detriment. We get much less of those dollars back than we give. He also doesn’t get that the blue states are economic engines nationally. Look at our US GDP contribution. We need to magnify this information. If federal money is illegally, we’ll need to withhold our federal taxes. I’m tired of blue states being patsies while disrespected and punished for being so.

I live in one of the fourteen states: Colorado, where this all started several months ago.

1) Trump moved the Space Command center from Colorado Springs to Alabama (doesn't get any redder than that) yanking hundreds of jobs and billions of dollars from the local/state economy, 2) vetoed a bipartisan water infrastructure bill (sponsored by Lauren Boebert no less, which passed the Congress unanimously) that now makes it difficult to impossible to finish a critical water project that would supply drinking water to a rural part of the state where the vast majority of people voted for HIM.

His early efforts to spin up a massive ICE operation started here, but for some reason they decided to shine the Eye of Sauron elsewhere (for now). Google the community response to a bogus arrest in Durango if you want details.

He's also super pissed at Colorado (Governor Polis in particular) for not pardoning Tina Peters, the disgraced county clerk of court who broke a few state laws in working with My Pillow Guy to try to prove that the voting machines in her county were rigged. Spoiler alert: they weren't and she was convicted by a jury of her peers in a ruby red Mesa County in western Colorado. She now lives in a state prison and Trump can't pardon her because she broke state, not federal, laws. He is not happy about that.

Oh, yeah. Colorado is one of the fourteen alright. It started many months ago (seems like years).

Update: Oh, I forgot one. He also closed the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, which for decades has been an important part of weather prediction and climate research for the whole country. Hundreds of jobs and decades of climate research down the drain.

i would add jeffries and 95% of congressional dems to that wish.... their minds are in such a twist that they become impotent. their lack of strategy and pathetic belief that the 'old-non-fascist-rules-of-democracy' still apply leaves them pathetically starring (like deer in headlights) at november and skipping the 9 months of disaster the fascist dictator and his minions will unleash on the country (and world).

New York is working on withholding the funds we send to the Federal Government for all the Poor states that need it.

Do I have this right? Congress holds the purse (money.) Does Trump have access to our money because Congress has left the door open for him to take or withhold what has been allocated?

Joan MacLeod's avatar

Will Congress finally do their jobs and impeachment, I'm not holding my breath.

Allen B from MD's avatar

Impeachment by the HoR hasn't been the issue, Joan, and it has already happened twice in his first term. Impeachment (like indictment) is a worthless PR issue without CONVICTION by the Senate (which is filled with MAGA acolyte simps without backbones). The NIH has cell therapy research programs where those MAGAts can have genetically-engineered osteocytes to replace that bone mass they lost earlier.

ajay ess's avatar

this impeachable offense by putin-style-dictator-trump to cut off fed funds to blue state will NOT be addressed by the putin-style-rubber-stamp-repugnican-congress (and after the midterms are rigged (putin-style), the putin-style-rubber-stamp-repugnican-congress will still be in command)

Steve R's avatar

Yes, let’s see how the MAGA folks in red states would like it if no states got federal money due to blue states stopping payments to the federal government?

Nancy Stone's avatar

Not every person who lives in a red state is MAGA.

ajay ess's avatar

we have to start somewhere, and dominant blue states are it. unfortunately the minority never-trumpers will have to move from red to blue. can't worry about everybody everywhere...it's just reality...

Nancy Stone's avatar

Expecting people to move to blue states is unrealistic. Across the river is Illinois. Granted they’re a blue state but everything is extremely expensive there.

Steve R's avatar

Yes, in fact I live in a swing district in a “blue” state so I should have just said red state voters? The whole country is very diverse and generalizations like mine are not accurate… I apologize

return to normalcy's avatar

No need to apologize, it's a heated time & we all make broad statements that upon reflection we could have said differently. I know that I sure have & I'm sure will continue to do so. Sometimes we just have to hit "POST" right away!!!

Mark's avatar

Shouldn’t have to pay federal taxes

Just a human's avatar

Yes, I’m in S Mpls. We are fighting with everything we have, to push back on the administration and its cruel and illegal agenda. We need everyone with a voice or a take talent or whatever you have to offer, to stand up and fight back - either as a group or individually. Let’s do this.

I'm an old lady with a walker that I have dubbed my protest mobile & have a sign on the front saying just that. I protest when I can. Here in Santa Cruz California he have a weekly protest at one of the main intersections in town & I go whenever I can. There are protests in smaller towns near by that I try to get as well.

I also called & write my elected officials, All Dems. & I contact Thune & Johnson & let them have it for being cowards, no I DO NOT THREATEN, I just tell them to do their GODDAM JOBS!

Can you send this posting to every member of Congress? Some of them should pay attention and read it all – – thereby reminding them that this Felon is once again defying our constitution. Thank you, Miles.

ajay ess's avatar

WE need to send it to everyone in congress...WE have to make our voices heard (loud and strong)....schumer + jeffries and 95% of congressional dems have zero strategy to address this.... their minds are in such a twist that they become impotent. their lack of strategy and pathetic belief that the 'old-non-fascist-rules-of-democracy' still apply leaves them pathetically starring (like deer in headlights) at november and skipping the 9 months of disaster the fascist dictator and his minions will unleash on the country (and world). we are doomed if we don't kick their asses out of their cozy congressional ivory towers and onto the streets with 'we the people'.... check out represent.us that miles suggests...
